Your first acupuncture consultation.
During your visit, Theresa will gain a thorough understanding of your main complaint and general health.
This involves asking questions about your current symptoms and medical history. Some questions may seem unrelated, but it all builds a picture that helps her to get to the root of the problem.
The acupuncture treatment.
Theresa will make a diagnosis and treatment plan, then use very fine single-use needles to stimulate acupuncture points on your body.
Energy meridians travel across the whole body, so the points used are not necessarily close to where you experience pain or discomfort. For example. If you suffer with headaches, needles may be inserted into your foot or arm.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Some people are put off acupuncture because of a fear of needles or pain. Theresa uses the highest quality needles which are incredibly fine – about the size of a few hairs on your head. It is a unique feeling, often described as a dull sensation, followed by a calm, relaxed feeling. Most people will drift off to sleep while the needles are in. Tremainamin in for 20 minutes.
After your treatment.
Most people feel quite relaxed after the treatment. Avoid drinking alcohol or carrying out any strenuous work afterwards. Ideally try to give yourself a rest, so that you can experience the full benefits of your treatment.
